The Project Table has been BUSY!

I am hosting my daughters baby shower on Jan. 18th at our Club house for 50 people. I woke up a couple of days ago in a panic, because of the Holidays and company, I really hadn't gotten much planned. So I spent the last few days brainstorming and planning and here is what I have so far:

1) Mother and baby bird theme using chocolate brown and teal and damask. I am using the small plate for desert. And white "Chinette" plates for brunch.

2) I stamped the luncheon napkins and the invitations with brown ink with our little theme:
"tiny little thing, great big blessing"
And mailed the Invitations Saturday Jan. 1st.

3) The food table is going to be 12" long. (50 people) We are using the diaper cake in the middle, and I bought this cute little carriage and pregnant dress form  for one end of the table, and a pretty little bird cage, which I will decorate for the other end. Then the diaper cake for the middle.
I started the "diaper Cake"

4) I am having cupcakes made so we won't need a real cake. But I am looking for a cute way to display the cupcakes. A cupcake tree? Make a stand? I am using my cake stand for the "diaper cake". Does anyone have any ideas for the cupcakes?

5) I have 3 white eyelet paper lanterns and 4 teal ones and am looking for some brown ones. I found this cute way to hang them creatively without putting any holes in the Club house ceiling.

Does anyone have any other ideas of how to display the pretty lanterns? The shower is going to be during the day so they won't be lit up like this. I have 8 lanterns total.

I am going to set each of the five tables with a pretty tablescape... and the plates, cutlery and favors.

My Daughters Mother in law is helping with all the food and a Baby Bingo game.

My lovely daughter in law Cara, is in charge of setting up the buffet table and making little "momma bird and baby bird" sugar cookies for favors.

We aren't going to do a bunch of games with that many people there... we are going to play baby bingo while my daughter opens presents and we are having a diaper raffle. I put a little note in the invitations saying bring a bag of diapers and get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a "Fabulous" prize. Then we will also raffle off little gifts during the present opening...

I am planning the menu now... Its a sunday brunch. We can't serve alcohol in the clubhouse but I think I am going to have virgin Mimosas. Any good brunch ideas? Food? Drinks? Deserts?

Am I missing anything? I know I am...

Ok my crafty friends... any ideas? I still feel a little panicky.

Here's to a Happy New Year!

Some of the family is going to the Home game and some of us are staying home to watch on TV. And some of us (Like me) are going to play with the grand kids all day!

I was tired yesterday!

But I hauled in a few on sale treasures!
Some really nice boxes I will most likely use next year that were half price, $2.50 each. Those little gift bags and wine bags were 25 cents each at Target! And those pretty little monogramed (I know Susan, I'm totally into the monogramming this year) fingertip towels were $1.99 each at Kirkland's.

Aren't they adorable??? I'm pretty happy with my little treasures.

I also found these plates, they are a little bigger than saucers and I am going to make lemon snowball cookies for the neighbors.
They were just $1.95 regular price at Joann's Fabrics.

Here is a little sneak peak at my table for Tablescape Tuesday:

I have had my coffee and my daughter just showed up
and we are ready to go!
Actually, I am wearing my velours and some comfy sneakers,
because seriously,
I couldn't shop dressed like that!
But that is how I am dressed in my mind's eye!
Hopefully I will post some pretties later!

The project table has been busy this week!
Getting last minute things done and getting ready for company galore!

Getting ready to make a gift basket for my Doctor.
Its got two red Japanese tea cups. A glass tea pot, and a large canister of flowering teas and some Organic honey.

Don't forget the bling!

Finished basket, ready for gift giving!

This week I also finished the initials for my daughter and daughter in law.
I love how they came out...
I might have to make myself a big R

From new to old in just a few minutes.

One of the finished letters close up.
Of course I added bling! (Just a touch)

I'm going to shop the sales this weekend for the Christmas stuff 70% off.
Do some baking with my daughter. And enjoying all the company that is arriving...
The rest of the weekend will be spent playing with my grand children.
Ohh I hope I find some good sales!

Tablescape Tuesday

Welcome to my second Tablescape Tuesday!
Hosted by Susan on her blog Between naps on the porch. My I present a "A Simple Asian Table setting." With all the hustle and bustle of the holidaze, sometimes its nice to sit down to a simple but elegant meal...

Followed by a lovely cuppa flowering tea and chocolate covered fortune cookies.

How to brew flowering tea...

Place a handmade Jasmine tea flower in bottom of clear tea pot... Add hot h2O
and let seep till flower is open and tea is light green...

What's on the project table for the weekend???
Well I finally got my tree totally done last night... The grandkids came over and just stood there looking at it... I wish I would have gotten a pic of that it was so adorable... I have little birdies on my tree and when they noticed them, my granddaughter decided to count them...
Our Tree this year:
top of the tree...
***********************************************
Although we draw names for the adults... (we have a large family) the kids are fair game... However... I always sneak in a gift for my daughter and daughter in law. Its a tradition that I have been doing long before we started drawing names... I always give them the same thing always in a pretty Christmas box.
This year I am making their gifts...
Every girl has a place in their home for their initial!
I will be doing this little project this week end sometime...
Plus I need to stop by Joann's Fabrics to get some more velvet to make another jeweled  Christmas tree.
Have a fun week end everyone...
