Foodie Friday

Again with the baking! Its just been so much fun baking spooky things. I'll get back to cooking starting Saturday (Halloween night) I traditionally make my Tortilla Soup. I used to make stew when we lived in Colorado... I like to have something in the slow cooker so I can devote myself to costumes and the fun stuff; Trick or Treaters! So dinner is ready early... we eat then get all costumed up and I'll light the Jack-0-lanterns Hubby's sets up the comfy folding chairs and fire pit in the driveway and we fill a cooler with "beverages" and wait... We don't wait long... We have lived in our new house for 4 years this December... and every year I give away over 7 pounds of candy! Instead of getting up and down we meet the trick-or-treaters in the driveway, careful to keep the costumed kids away from our portable fire pit! They see who has the candy bowl and they come right to me... although I am wearing my witch hat~ I try not to scare the little ones!

Here are my Halloween Skeleton Cup Cakes!
Turn up your speakers, I picked another song for you!
~Enjoy~

Fresh from the oven, just butter recipe chocolate cake mix.

You have to have some scary frosting...
This is my usual homemade cream cheese frosting.
With just a little festive color for effect!

Oh Wait, thats not a decorating tip!

Its a "bismarck" tip for filling!

Filled cupcakes waiting for chocolate frosting, sprinkles and skeletons!

Happy little skeletons with bones for bow ties!

Lets cut one open...
That might scare ya
if you didn't know it was in there!
BOO!

Speaking of BOO!
Its "HIM" again...

Ok Creepy Guy...

Foodie Friday

I would like to thank my fun fellow blogger
over at
for the inspiration to make these witch finger cookies.

****************************
Wicked Witch Finger Cookies
(Click on any photo to enlarge)

What!
Not my fingers!

No...
Not the Wicked Witch of the West's fingers... They're green!

These are plain old witch fingers...

First you have to blanch some almonds for the fingernails...
If you have never blanched almonds
They are easy... Bring about 4 cups of water to boil.
Dump in about a cup of almonds and count to 60.
Pour into a colander and rinse in cold water for a minute.
Dump onto a paper towel and spread out.
Take an almond and pinch the fat end and POP the skin comes right off...
Careful where you are pointing it cause when I say POP
I mean it will launch into the air and across the room!
Peel the almonds and put on a clean paper towel to dry.

I used my every day sugar cookie recipe and chilled it in the fridge over night...
This is my niece Brianna helping me roll witch fingers.

Putting on the blanched almonds for creepy fingernails...

Only bake them for 7 to 8 minutes...

The kids thought they were soooooo creepy!

Wait... Its creepy guy from the haunted buffet again...
He looks like he is sneaking some cookies!

Thanks to Miss "G" for hosting

Welcome...
Care for a Bleeding Heart-tini?

Or a Black Lagoon Cocktail as you look around?

Step up to the buffet for a bite to eat...

A little closer if you dare...

Pickles, cucumber spears or almonds?

Do you ever get the feeling someone is watching you?
