Its a Housewarming Party- Island Style!

This party is for our friend

I'm Bringing the Rumaki and Rum
Rum in the way of Painkillers...
A little recipe I picked up when I was in the British Virgin
Islands visiting a little island called
Jost Van Dyke.
We had to swim ashore because there was no dock. The name of the little bar, right on the beach is called
The Soggy Dollar
(aptly named as our money was pretty wet!)

Soggy Dollar dot com

They say at the Soggy Dollar Bar
that the painkiller is a
"Sunny Drink for shady people"

Here is the recipe for a Painkiller:
Soggy Dollar PainKiller
2 oz. Pussers Dark Rum (Or another dark rum that you prefer)
1 oz Cream of Coconut
4 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz orange juice

Put in a shaker with crushed ice...
Shake shake shake, shake shake shake... Shaker yer....

I am also bringing Rumaki
Cause as Dave always reminds us
everything tastes good with bacon!
(I wonder if he meant chicken liver?)

I didn't have the guts (no pun intended) to use the chicken livers,
so I substituted scallops for chicken livers...

So lets relax and visit and eat good food!

I can't wait to follow along with your adventures Dave!

The recipe is fairly easy...
I will give full instructions this Foodie Friday

Take lots of Photos !

Food for Thought=Finger Lickin Fifteen

My absolute favorite author is Janet Evanovich. Period. I love her Stephanie Plum series and have read every one plus her" between the numbers" novelettes. She is on Fifteen now... Of Stephanie's adventures... And Sixteen will be out June 2010!

Stephane is a Bail bonds woman... and not such a good one either... she hates guns, she not real tough and she always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time... My goodness tho, she has great taste in men... or should I say there are two men in her life that are both over the top HOT HOT HOT!
I'll just say Joe and Ranger. Lucky girl.

She seems to get into all kinds of trouble... and always seems to catch something on fire... whether its her boss's Porsche or her beater car or her apartment or
the neighborhood mortuary!
Her Grandmother Mazar is usually right behind her in the trouble department. Her sidekick, a former "Ho" turned real working woman named Lula always leads the way for trouble... While her mother makes dinner every night and prays her daughter can
stay outta trouble at least once.
But she always get's her bond!

So, in Finger Licken Fifteen... Chef Chipotle is murdered right in front of Lula! It totally ruins her day! Now the killers are after Lula. Which mostly infuriates and is more of a nuisance for Lula. But Lula is tired of the police trying to catch the killers she tries herself, by involving her self in a BBQ cook off where the sauce is what makes or breaks ya!
What's the secret Mr. Clucky's sauce?

Stephanie and Lula try to find the killer before the killer kills Lula and that's where the trouble begins and ends!

All of Janet Evanovich's books are highly recommended... they are FUNNY and easy reading and I gobble them up in a couple days then have to wait for the next "number" comes out!

Here is the Amazon link to Finger Lickin Fifteen but start at the beginning for a great ride! You can find all her books at your Public Library.

Enjoy!

With Easter approaching quickly I thought it important to get these reminders of what to do with the leftover eggies so we can put them on our to do lists! Or at least store the ideas somewhere in the back of the brain where we can recall them when our refrigerators are filled with boiled eggs!

Lets not forget the Scotch egg...
Homemade that is...
Not those nasty ones that stores sell on every corner in England.
But the ones that only take minutes to make and are SO delicious!
No recipe needed... Just follow my tutorial...

Start with:

Wrap it around a peeled hard boiled egg

Roll in bread crumbs...

Bake at 425 for about 25 minutes, depending on how thick the sausage it.

I love these little gems!
I also make a Dijon/Dill dipping sauce.

They are just good!

And yes... the lovely, delisious comfort food...
Egg Salad!
I like mine just on a plate with crunchey veggies...
But my family loves it on bread

Here's my lunch every other week or so...

I would like to thank Susan from Somewhere over the rainbow for featuring one of my projects on her blog...
Yours came out Fantastic Susan!

Here is my original project post:

My Grandson likes red cabbage!

I got to baby sit my Grandson Preston today...
We had a wonderful day, playing and reading and going for a walk...
See he just learned how to walk so he is very proud. (So am I)

He also got his first sucker today... Its just a small one... and I got it at the health food store "Sprouts" Its made with organic real sugar and real strawberry flavoring... He loved it! I loved photographing him...

I think he likes suckers!

I also promised myself that I would try to eat a rainbow every day. So I piled some red (Purple) cabbage in with the pork roast and potatoes tonight for dinner...
MmmmmGood!
Preston even loved it!

I photographed it before cooking... its just SO pretty!
The core looks like an angel holding up her arms singing!
Ok its just cabbage, its not like I saw the Madonna or anything!
