Foodie Friday! ~ Dinner with a Vampire

Dinner is served...
Click on any photo to enlarge if you dare...

Chopped Capri Salad with a emulsifyed balsamic vinaigrette

Sea Scallops in butter~ hold the garlic!
Served with black Spaghetti!
And a tangy Gremolata topping.

Sautee med scallops in 2 Tab butter and a tablespoon of Gremolata (recipe follows)

Sautee a couple of minutes till Scallops are done...
Careful not to overcook.
Gremolata is:

1 tab lemon zest
1 tab garlic
1 tab parsley and culantro (a flat leaf cilantro like herb) mix
(if you can't find culantro use cilantro)
Sometimes I add a Tab olive oil, depending on what I am using it on.

Cook black spaghetti as directed on the package.

Its colored with squid ink, but tastes just like regular pasta.

Remove scallops from pan and toss spaghetti in remaining sauce till hot.

Serve

Have fun

I hope you enjoyed dinner with a Vampire!

Oh the bones... A before and after...

How to make bones... Look like a corpse...
I took a bag of Styrofoam bones from Target, some Mod Podge and paint, a foam brush and some tissue paper and made the dried up bones look like a corpse.

I carved out some grooves in an old board, filled the grooves with hot glue and let dry, then pryed out the "teeth" and glued them to the jaws of the skull:

Then attached the bottom jaw to the top jaw with toothpicks.

Instead of having the mouth closed.
(I should have been a dentist! HA!)

I chose to have it open like its screaming!
Then I started applying the tissue paper... one strip at a time using the Mod Podge with some burnt sienna stain in it.

Then put tissue paper over all the bones in the bag:

After it was dry it looked like decaying skin covering the bones...
This isn't their final resting place yet...
Stay tuned...

Remember these?

I used to love these...
They are called Magic Eye.
They are actually stereogram algorithms.
I call them FUN!
So relax yourself and your eyes and have some fun.

If you remember these you know what to do:
Stare at the middle of the picture and un-focus your eyes.

You can also print this and try it this way:

Hold the center of the printed image right up to your nose. It should be blurry. Focus as though you are looking through the image into the distance. Very slowly move the image away from your face until the two squares above the image turn into three squares. If you see four squares, move the image farther away from your face until you see three squares. If you see one or two squares, start over!

When you clearly see three squares, hold the page still, and the hidden image will magically appear. Once you perceive the hidden image and depth, you can look around the entire 3D image. The longer you look, the clearer the illusion becomes. The farther away you hold the page, the deeper it becomes. Good Luck!
